I wish you the best is a triumph of pop culture – and is now showing at the Edinburgh Fringe festival.

This movie is full of suspense scenes, knee-slap jokes and catchy tunes. If you are a fan of parody musicals and of course Queen, you should not miss this movie. Gwyneth Paltrow.

The talented Mr Ripley actress was sued by retired optometrist Terry Sanderson about a ski slope collision in Utah – so logically this deserved a musical. Be glad it happened.

The running joke throughout the hour is that poor old Terry doesn't stand a chance against Hollywood megastar Gwyneth, as she turns to the audience – who are set up as the jury – with regal waves and air kisses, while Terry fails miserably at the same seduction tactics.

Rumor has it that Gwyneth herself may be in line to see I Wish You Well – named after her famous final words to Sanderson after successfully suing him for $1 – when the film comes out. Londonin the West End.

If she has a sense of humor, Gwyneth will probably enjoy it, as the piece is essentially a love letter to the woman herself, with a liberal dose of mockery, including references to her Gloop vagina-scented candles and questions about how big Brad Pitt's dick is.

It turns out X Factor star Diana Vickers – who took part in the singing competition in 2008 – can both act and sing, as she plays the lead actress alongside three co-stars, who also mastered their performances.

Vickers has Gwyneth's airy, aloof demeanor down to a tee, nailing the Sliding Doors star's mannerisms perfectly, from her little nod to tousle her hair to the nonchalant roll of the star's eyes.

Each actor had their moment to shine – and they did. Tori Allen-Martin did a brilliant job capturing Sanderson’s lawyer Kristin’s internal – and external – struggle between doing her job and ascending to Queen Gwyneth, and did so with triumphant comedic timing.

Marc Antolin played Terry perfectly, his awkward clumsiness counterbalancing Gwyneth's charismatic ease. His striptease for the jury audience was also one of the funniest moments, as he desperately tried to get them on their side.

Idriss Kargbo stole the musical element of the show as he played Judge wearing huge pink heels, doing the splits and running across the stage with the energy of a supernova. He is a rising superstar – so definitely one to watch.

The songs were catchy, well-performed and the audience wanted more, not to be rid of it. Energetic, sharp and with equally brilliant acting and performance, this musical is an explosion of showbiz mockery that just feels right. Sometimes that's just the tonic.

I Wish You Well – The Gwyneth Paltrow Ski Trial Musical runs daily at 5.45pm until 26 August at the Edinburgh Fringe. Tickets available here.
