Paul’s fight with Fury was set to continue at Madison Square Garden on August 6.
Fury filmed a video explaining why he couldn’t come on his flight to the United States last month to promote the fight.
He said: ‘[I wanted to] come here and set the record straight before someone else tries.
“Me and my team arrived at Heathrow Airport this morning, ready for the press conference, ready to go.
And as soon as I entered the airport, I was pulled over and told by the Homeland Security officer who was there that my ESTA had been denied and that I could not travel to the US for a reason I apparently knew. know.
“I can stand here and say I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong and I have no idea why I’m not allowed to travel to the US.”
“I trained all the time for a fight and that’s all I’ve done. I have no idea why they won’t let me travel today, and neither will my team or my lawyers.
“So now I have to go to the embassies and all this stuff to sort it out and I’m in the middle of training guys, I don’t know why this happened today – it’s a huge shock to me and my whole team.
However, Fury was barred from entering America prior to their press conference last month
Paul gave fans an update on the situation regarding Fury – claiming his opponent was hiding
“Obviously it’s an issue that needs to be resolved, it’s government issues, it’s much bigger than the battle right now and I’m trying to sort it out, but I just wanted to let you all know what it was all about.”
Responding to the setback in their efforts to face each other, Paul angrily tweeted: “Tommy, no matter how hard you try to get out of this fight, I’m going to do everything I can to not let you get in your way. from.
“My team and my partners have made it clear what steps you need to take to resolve your latest apology. Take them or admit you’re a scared bastard.”
Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions also confirmed in a statement that the press conference had to be postponed due to the situation surrounding Fury.
The statement read: “Despite many assurances from Tommy Fury’s team that he could come to the US, and knowing Tommy was in California last month, we were surprised to learn that he had a problem at Heathrow Airport on Monday.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the planned press conference for Wednesday at MSG has been postponed.
“We are working with our partners at SHOWTIME and Madison Square Garden and will share more information as soon as possible.”
Paul gave Fury a deadline to resolve his travel issues before breaking off the fight
Paul took to Twitter again on June 30 to update fans on the situation, claiming that Fury was “hiding”.
He said, “Tommy Fury is hiding. B***h made. Tyson Fury’s attorney never got back to my team about setting up escrow for our $1 million bet. ‘Never believed in his brother. Instructed my team to do a Hova (Jay-Z) and move on to the next one.”
He shared an accompanying video in which he said: ‘We spoke to Tommy Fury’s lawyers, they all advise him to just go to the embassy to get his visa.
“That’s all he has to do. But Tommy shows no urgency, he’s not gone yet, he’s not communicating with us about what he’s doing.
“This is another case of Tommy Fumbles just being afraid to fight me. I think this is what this is. I think the Fury family is trying to manipulate something to get me to fight in the UK.
‘Do you want me to fight in the UK? Show me $15 million. Because here in America we do more PPV purchases, more ticket sales and more sponsorship.
Fury has yet to respond to the message, but Paul is already preparing for a fight against heavyweight Hasim Rahman Jr (pictured above together)
‘I showed you the money, we’re ready to go. MSG, Aug 6. Tommy, you’re going to miss the biggest payday of your life because you want me to go to the UK?
‘I’ll get there, show me the money, but you can’t do that. This is embarrassing. Go to the embassy, get your visa, stop avoiding me and stop wasting my time.’
Paul then gave Fury a deadline, claiming the fight would be called off if he didn’t visit the US embassy before Wednesday morning.
He tweeted: “Tommy is officially free on Wednesday morning if he doesn’t go to the embassy/come out of hiding,” Paul tweeted. Three other opponents lined up. I’m built differently.’
Now that Wednesday’s deadline had passed, Paul took to social media again to announce that he had sent Fury a “cancellation notice.”
Fury has yet to respond to the message, but Paul is already planning to fight heavyweight Hasim Rahman Jr.
While Rahman Jr has not fought many big names while building a 12-1 record, his father Lennox defeated Lewis famously to win the 2001 World Heavyweight Championship in one of the biggest setbacks the sport had seen in years.
