YouTube’s Picture-in-Picture mode starts for everyone on iPhone and iPad

Last June, YouTube rolled out the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for iPhone and iPad Premium subscribers in the US, and now the company has announced that this feature is rolling out to all devices running iOS and iPadOS 15.0 or later worldwide.

YouTube Premium users around the world can play music and non-music content in PiP mode on their iPhones and iPads, meaning they can watch the videos in a small, floating window while browsing other apps on their devices at the same time.

However, for non-Premium users, PiP mode is only available for free in the US and only for non-music content. So if you live in the United States and want the PiP mode for music content, you need to buy a YouTube Premium subscription.

YouTube, in his blog postsaid PiP for iPhone and iPad will be rolled out to everyone “in the coming days”, but in its tweet, the company said it is “slow rolling” for users. Anyway, it’s safe to say that it will be at least a few weeks before all eligible iPhone/iPad users get this feature on their devices.
