A law graduate who was killed by a stranger when she returned home reassured her best friend that “it wouldn’t happen to us” after Sarah Evalard’s murder.
Zara Arena, 35, died of a severe head injury after being attacked early on Sunday on her way home from a night out.
CCTV captured a 5-foot-1-inch University of Westminster graduate walking past the store to his mother’s home in Ilford, northeast London. Just before she was attacked from behind her, dragged into her driveway, beaten and killed.
Last night, the detective continued asking questions to a 29-year-old man arrested on Monday. Miss Arena’s devastated best friend portrayed a ruthless resemblance to the murder of Miss Everd, 33, and Sabina Nessa, 28.

Zara Arena, 35, died of a severe head injury after being attacked early on Sunday morning on her way home from a night out.
Lisa Hodison, who studied with Miss Arena at Westminster Kingsway College, said: Of course, we didn’t know those girls, but we were both really influenced by it – Zara was pretty upset.
“I even said to Zara,” Can you imagine what’s happening to us? “And she said,” It’s terrible, but don’t worry, it’s me. It doesn’t happen to us. “Everyone believes it won’t happen to them until it happens.
Marketing manager Miss Everd was kidnapped, raped and killed by Scotland Yard firearms officer Wayne Kusens last March.
Miss Hodison said:’After what happened to Sarah, you would expect to see a big change to prevent it from happening again.
“But what happened? To my best friend, it happened again. And I want to kill the guy I did with my bare hands, but it’s too late and I don’t have any beautiful, kind and affectionate friends. It’s gone.
“These predators out there don’t seem to care-they aren’t scared. They should be able to go home alone at night, fearing this might happen. Why me Shouldn’t we feel safe? “
Jevina Nessa, whose sister Sabina was murdered in Kidbrooke, southeast London last September, joined the call for more work to be done to end men’s violence against women.
Ilford’s Cranbrook Road crime scene shows where the arena was attacked on Sunday
The attack was reminiscent of Sarah Evalard and was killed on March 3rd last year in southern London for serving Met Officer Wayne Kusens when he returned home.
She said:’I can’t explain in words how I felt I read yet another murder, just as it happened to my beautiful sister. My heart is directed at her family. Miss Arena, who worked in the Royal Courts for the role of a trainee lawyer, generally walked rather than took a taxi.
Miss Hodison said. “She wasn’t afraid. I told her friend what happened-they said they took a taxi and Zara wanted to walk. It’s Zara, 100 percent.”
CCTV, which was handed over to police but not publicized, indicates that the attacker approached from behind and struck the ground with his hand on his mouth.
“How timid and attacking a woman from behind. Zara was small, but tough and brave. He would have fought to the end,” Hodgson said.
As the attacker escaped, his neighbor hurriedly found Miss Arena bleeding. Her rescuer performed CPR for two hours and took her to the hospital around 4:30 am, after which she was declared dead shortly thereafter.
