Ace! Fishin’ Buddies update roles in multiplayer support

Ace!, one free-to-play fishing game from Resolution Games, getting multiplayer support on Meta Quest 2 today.

Released for the first time for Samsung Gear in 2016, Ace! arrived late on the original Oculus Quest as a launch title. Announced today during the Resolution Games ShowcaseFishing Friends marks Bait!’s first major content update in six years and introduces a new hangout for up to 12 players called Casters Cove. There is also Penguin Point, where four players can participate in fishing tournaments. Resolution gave this full rundown:

Up to four players can visit Penguin Point together to throw out their lines for casual fun or competitive tournaments, while up to 12 players can hang out at Casters’ Cove – Resolution Games’ third place. Tinyversethe studio’s solution for a more personalized metaverse – and take part in a variety of social activities such as RC boat races, rock jumping on the beach, paddling around in inflatable floats, and much more.

It’s a surprise update to one of VR’s oldest titles, and Bait! was once one of mobile VR’s most popular experiences, eventually being surpassed a million players. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Resolution experiment with Bait! neither does multiplayer, thanks to the one from 2017 Ace! Arctic open. Once exclusive to the now-defunct Facebook Spaces, Arctic Open shut down two years later when Meta shut down the platform.

Fishin’ Buddies arrives today as a free update, and Bait! is available for free on the Meta quest platform.
