Apple Pencil Pro is coming according to Apple's Japanese website

In less than 24 hours, Apple is hosting an event during which it will finally unveil new iPads – a new generation iPad Pro in two sizes with OLED screens for the first time, and there will also be a new generation of iPad Air in two sizes For the first time. But that's not all: a new Apple Pencil stylus has also been rumored in recent weeks and has been extensively leaked, so this should be announced as well.

Today, Apple's website for Japan may have mentioned the name of the product: it will apparently be called Apple Pencil Pro. The name is embedded in the HTML code of the website.

Apple currently offers the Apple Pencil 1st generation, the Apple Pencil 2nd generation and the Apple Pencil USB-C. We assumed the new stylus would be called Apple Pencil 3rd generation, but apparently not – Apple is calling it Pencil Pro and strongly implies that most, if not all, of the previous generation's pencils will remain on sale.

It makes sense to call the next stylus Pencil Pro. After all, there are rumors that it is haptic feedbacka new squeeze gestureeven support for Apple's Vision Pro headset. That's a feature set that puts it clearly above all previous generations.

So while the mention of Apple Pencil Pro on Apple's Japanese website could be a mistranslation, we wouldn't be at all surprised if Apple Pencil Pro ends up being the official name. And if so, because Apple is Apple, it must be more expensive than the others, otherwise what's the point?

Either way, we'll know for sure in a few hours, so stay tuned for our coverage of the Apple event starting on May 7 at 7 a.m. Pacific, which is 10 a.m. Eastern, 3 p.m. London, and 4 p.m. hours in Central Europe. 5:00 PM in Eastern Europe, 7:30 PM in India and 10:00 PM in China.
