At least two dead, 23 injured after knifeman storms hospital in 'vicious attack' in China – The Sun

AT LEAST two people have been killed and another 23 injured after a knife attack at a hospital in China.

State media did not specify the nature of the attack but confirmed it took place at the Zhenxiong County People's Hospital in the northeast of southwestern Yunnan province.

Reports claim that the incident took place at a local hospital at 1:20 pm local time (5:20 am GMT).

“The incident took place at a local hospital and as of 1:20 p.m. (0520 GMT) more than 10 people have been injured or killed,” state news agency Xinhua said.

An online television report in Guizhou province, citing unnamed authorities, subsequently confirmed that two had been killed and 23 people were injured.

Images published by state news site The Paper show a man holding a knife in the hospital lobby.

Another man stands in front of him and appears to be holding a stick or pole to defend himself.

According to a TV post in Guizhou, a suspect has now been arrested.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
