Bayern Munich are set to sell English youth international Omar Richards this summer, with Nottingham Forest showing interest in signing him.

This is according to Sky Sports Germanywho reports that the left-back is not part of Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann’s immediate plans for the Bundesliga champions’ first team, and is now available for transfer if a club is willing to pay a fee of around £ 10 million .

Forest manager Steve Cooper has been warned by that price tag as he wants to strengthen his team’s defense ahead of their first Premier League campaign in the 21st century.

Cooper has been working on a deal for another defender in Germany for the past few weeks, with Mainz 05 center-back Moussa Niakhaté signing for the Midlands club in the coming days.

Left-back is a problem area for Forest this pre-season, with Max Lowe returning to parent club Sheffield United after playing the role at City Ground for most of last season, while Jack Colback also stepped in on occasion, but nominally a center midfielder.

Richards therefore represents a viable option for Cooper, who oversaw an astonishing turnaround in Forest’s fortunes after taking over the club last autumn, leading them to promotion through the play-offs after an excellent series of form and results since his arrival.

Behind Canada international Alphonso Davies in the Bayern pick order last season, Richards made a total of 12 Bundesliga appearances, enough to earn a winning medal as Bayern won their tenth consecutive league title.

The 24-year-old first moved to Germany a year ago and followed in the footsteps of other highly regarded English youngsters such as Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, but is said to be prepared to return to his homeland.

Richards came through the youth academy at Reading, making 104 appearances for the Royals ahead of his unexpected move to Bayern.
