Beautiful, but 'Mad Max' prequel is not 'Fury Road'

The first reactions are here for George Miller's latest adventure in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

The embargo was broken due to reactions on social media Angrythe highly anticipated prequel to the 2015 smash Mad Max: Fury Road.

This new entry stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Imperator Furiosa (who takes over for Charlize Theron) and Chris Hemsworth as a devious warlord in a story set 15 years before the previous film.

The first social reactions can sometimes be a little different (usually more enthusiastic) than official reviews from critics, and there will certainly be many more to come. But based on the first batch Monday night, Furisoa is a visual stunner with 'ferocious, wild and unforgiving' action and a story that 'spans decades', with strong performances from the two leads.

Those who compare the film to Furieweghowever, did so with a bit of qualification. Furisoa is in “a different gear” and “won't match the brilliance of Fury Road” in a way that “might frustrate” some audiences. said one critic Angry felt more like the first two Crazy Max movies (which is funny, because when Furieweg was released, some initially complained that the film wasn't enough like the first two Crazy Max movies).

Different isn't necessarily a bad thing, though, and this could be a case where viewers struggle to shake off their expectations when they go to the theater (the Angry after all, trailers sell the new film as pretty much exactly the same Furieweg). Many are certainly considering it Furieweg one of the best action films ever made – certainly one of the best of this century – so every comparison, even one, is true Angry is a notch or two short, is still free.

Check out some of the early reactions below. Angry will be in cinemas from May 24.
