Speak on the How to fail podcastthe TV personality said she was proud of how strong Lyla, who is now 19, grew up.

“The impact of something really big when you’re younger makes you grow up a lot in some ways and stay a kid longer in some ways,” she said.

“I look at Lyla in amazement and think, ‘You believe in yourself so much, even if it’s the weirdest upbringing you’ve had and the most drastic things that happened to you.'”

On the podcast, which is hosted by journalist Elizabeth Day, Trinny said she sometimes wondered if she was doing the right thing as a single parent.

She said, “I think you doubt yourself more as a single parent because there isn’t another person in the room to share the joy, the pain, the worry, the torture, whatever it is to raise kids .

So you may be saying to yourself more often “Did I do the right thing?”.

“There have been times when things happened and people looked and thought she shouldn’t have. There I really asked myself if I made the right decision.’

She added that with the help of her maternity nurse, Jenny, she was able to play the “mom-dad” role for Lyla.

She said, ‘Jenny was constant, she was there. Jenny strangely resembles Lyla’s grandmother-mother. My mom had Alzheimer’s disease, so when Lyla was growing up, she wasn’t a grandmother mom. And I was a kind of mother-father.’

Trinny paid tribute to Johnny, saying that while he was alive “we were the best of parents” before his death at the age of 55 at Whiteley’s shopping center in Bayswater, west London.

She said, “There were times when we were the best parents as a separate couple, when he was doing well. And I really thought how lucky I am that we’re so close that we can be incredibly supportive of each other in raising Lyla.”

Trinny and Johnny were married to each other in 1999 after meeting in rehab before divorcing in 2009 after which they remained on good terms.

Johnny, who had been addicted to painkillers for 20 years, had “lost everything” in a series of failed oil investments before his death.

The drummer turned businessman had been talked down from the same spot 11 days earlier and was briefly broken up.

But he then returned to the mall twice more in the space of five days before finally committing suicide the following day, Westminster Coroner’s Court heard.
