New Zealand’s Black fern sevens met little resistance as they stormed to a comfortable first win in Sydney.

Fresh of a tournament victory in Hamilton last weekendthe Black Ferns Sevens ran eight tries to none, to beat Papua New Guinea 48-0 on Friday.

The Pool A match looked more like an opposing training session than a world circuit match, as Papua New Guinea, the invitation team to Sydney, couldn’t make it with New Zealand – the defending champions.

Theresa Fitzpatrick, Tyla Nathan-Wong, Jazmin Felix-Hotham and Jorja Miller run in the first half and try to take a 26-0 lead at halftime.

Shiray Kaka, Portia Woodman-Wickliffe, Michaela Blyde and a second from Nathan-Wong doubled the score in the second half.

The Black Ferns Sevens now have a few hours off for what will be a much tougher challenge against France on Friday night at 9:05 PM (NZT).
