A police spokesman said: “Greater Manchester Police received a call to Sweetloves Lane in Bolton today (Wednesday 22 March 2023) at around 8am to report that suspicious items had been found.

“Explosive Ordnance Ordnance Disposal (EOD) is currently assessing the items. There is a current 100m cordon off to ensure the safety of the public.

“It is believed that there is no greater risk to the community.”
