BOSSES think staff are less productive when they work from home, says a study.

It found that 80 percent of managers think remote workers get away with less to do.

But 87 percent of employees who work from home say it allows them to work equally or more efficiently.

Satya Nadella, chief executive of Microsoftwho surveyed 20,000 workers, called on companies to resolve the disagreement.

He told the BBC: “We need to get beyond what we describe as productivity paranoia. There is a real discrepancy in terms of expectations and what employees feel.”

He thinks home offices are here to stay, supported by 15 percent of LinkedIn ads offering remote jobs.

That compared to two percent of the pre-Covid vacancy and a peak of 20 percent in the pandemic.

Microsoft employees can do half of their work from home, but must get more permission from the manager.

Apple workers resist calls to come in three days a week, while Tesla 40 hours a week in the office.
