Bruno Fernandes missed his very first game Manchester United due to injury as Erik ten Hag's side game Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Remarkably, the United captain has missed just one match due to illness since joining Old Trafford from Sporting CP for £47m in January 2020.

But a hand injury has forced Fernandes to miss United's trip to Selhurst Park.

The Portugal international wore protective bands on his right hand during United's 1-1 draw with Burnley at Old Trafford on April 27.

He was then spotted wearing a protective cast just days before United's game against Palace.

Casemiro will captain United in Fernandes' absence, while Mason Mount will get his first Premier League start since November.

Speaking about his incredible injury record in March, Fernandes said: “I just have to be grateful to my father and my mother because they got me in the right way, in the strong way,” the midfielder said.

“They have been here for the last two games and they give me that extra energy, together with my children and my wife, they always look after me.
