Bumper January for EVs in Australia

In addition to the 30 ships expected to arrive in Australia in December and early January, Veda Prime has now alerted us to the arrival in the new year of the MSC Immaculata with 4,000 Teslas for the Australian market. Yes, 4,000. That’s more than shipped in all of 2019.

“It has now been confirmed that MSC Immacolata has made the largest Tesla shipment ever to Australia with over 4000. This one shipment surpasses the entire first year of production of the Australian Model 3 in Q3 2019-Q2 2020. However, delays also continue to occur, Veda Prime via Twitter.

2023 will be a peak year for other EV manufacturers as SEAT’s Cupra Born is now taking orders and the BYD Dolphin and Great Wall ORA Cat are being tested in the country. LDV provides an electric car that will tour the eastern states for most of the year.

In the midst of this, the media continues to spread FUD and the sheep proclaim it. The Queensland Fire Department has purchased a Tesla Model 3 for fast response tasks and it was recently photographed in a road accident north of Brisbane. The comments below the photo of the Tesla Model 3 attending the scene of a multi-car accident showed public ignorance. Most of the comments were negative, fueled by negative media. They ranged from, “The irony…here’s hoping it won’t ignite.” to “Where did this Tesla come from, watch it get stuck on the highway with no battery charge and cause more chaos.”

There were just as many positives. “Nice to see a Model 3 with the emergency services,” one person commented. I’ve contacted the QFS for comment, but they say they can’t answer my questions at this time.

I’ve been thinking about how to teach the mobile vulgus and wondered who would. Car manufacturers? Car dealer? The government? Who will deFUD the DUD? With the sheer weight of numbers soon to be plaguing our highways, we may not need to – it will become pretty obvious, a fait accompli.
