Chipotle mirrors Ethereum’s Post Merge and offers 99.95% discount

The popularity of the crypto verse has witnessed a significant surge in recent years. This further sparked a collaboration between the crypto industry and several other mainstream entities. Prominent food chain, Chipotle went the crypto scene back in 2021 with its $100,000 Bitcoin giveaway sometime around National Burrito Day.

Over the next few months, the platform added other assets to its giveaway list. More recently, Chipotle seemed smitten by the Ethereum network’s transition to proof of commitment [PoS].

In its latest Twitter thread, the prominent food chain noted that it would be a whopping 99.95 percent off its steak bowl. The community was certainly taken aback by Chipotle’s tweet. However, the company pointed out that this offering was in light of the Ethereum network that uses 99.95 percent less energy after the merger.

Flexa, a payment platform, wrote a Medium post detailing how the offer lasted until October 4. However, users would have to spend ETH at Chipotle to take advantage of the offer.

The medium message read,

β€œTo commemorate the successful Ethereum Merge on September 15, Chipotle and Flexa are teaming up to offer exclusive proof of steak savings on Chipotle orders featuring the delicious new Garlic Guajillo Steak.”

Has Chipotle’s initiative proved successful?

While the offer enticed many, for a few others it seemed quite a hassle. Several complained about having to download an application, create a brand new account, and go through the entire login process. Even after that, many complained that the app was not working or that the store was not aware of the offer.

A few others noted how they would get free food through Chipotle’s latest initiative, but ended up spending a lot on gas costs.

But a majority of Crypto Twitter seemed to have taken advantage of the offer. Photos of the bowl were all over Chipotle’s comment section. Meanwhile, Ethereum was trading at $1,283.66, while posting a daily decline of nearly 7 percent.
