Combined team get up and move to the front of the pack in adventure racing champions

It was tough, but the combined New Plymouth Girls’ High and New Plymouth Boys’ High Junior Adventure racing team came out on top, finishing first at the NZ Get2Go Adventure Racing final on Great Barrier Island.

The team competed against the top 12 adventure racing schools from across New Zealand over five days from 11 to 16 December on Great Barrier Island.

Run by Hillary Outdoors, this competition features intense problem-solving and team challenge activities, culminating in a two-day expedition adventure race on both land and sea.

Petra Hofmans and Theo Kraayenhof were also named in the ‘Dream 8’ team, placing them among New Zealand’s top young adventure racers and Orienteers.

The team consisted of Girls’ High students Petra Hofmans, Sarah Johnson, Estelle Monk, Mia Padrutt. And from Boys’ High: Zavier Brown, Felix Field, Aidan Galley, Theo Kraayenhof.

Joseph Mulliss and Chadelle Bascara traveled as reserve.

The challenge concluded with a two-day expedition adventure race on both land and sea.
