An investigation has been launched after images were taken of a man dangling from a crane on a construction site.
The video, which has been viewed more than three million times, shows an unnamed man in Ontario, Canada, hanging for his life under a building block being lowered to the ground.
Bystanders can hear the man yelling to “hold on” as he screams in terror.
“Oh my god how did this happen?” said one as they called for people to lower the crane to avoid crushing the man under the block.
‘Holy-f – Jesus Christ. tell someone [the operator] to stop before he is crushed,” said the witness.
The man was returned safely to the ground with no serious injuries, PCL Constructors Canada Inc told CBC.
He was deployed to ensure the materials were securely attached to the rigger before it was lifted into the air by the company’s contractor Modern Niagara.
Hand ‘entangled’ with slogan
According to the company, the incident happened after the man’s hand “got entangled in a slogan after snagging a load”.
“We can confirm that there was an incident yesterday at our Front and Simcoe site that involved a rigger who became entangled in a slogan after hooking up a load,” the company said in a statement.
“Luckily he was lowered safely to the work surface and was not seriously injured. The safety of all employees and the community is our top priority.
“We are working with all relevant authorities and the incident is currently under investigation.”
Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development said: “It was reported that a worker became entangled in a crane tag line after hooking a load, being lifted off the stage and sustaining injuries.”
