Crews battle house fire in Oamaru

A fire at a house in Oamaru has been extinguished this afternoon.

Police, fire brigade and New Zealand emergency services arrived at the Tees St fire at around 3.30pm.

Oamaru station officer Jimmy Murdoch said there was a small fire at the home but it had been extinguished and the home ventilated.

There was no longer any risk.

Two fire engines from Oamaru and one from Weston attended the scene.

He consulted with fire safety about what the next steps were.

Mr Murdoch said this was from the fire hydrant, which had to be flushed before it could be used.
