Darth Jar-Jar Revealed in Disney's Latest 'Star Wars' Special Trailer

We have a good feeling about it: Disney+'s newest Star Wars special is the reveal of Darth Jar Jar.

The trailer (below) for the animated special LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy reveals a menacing Sith Lord version of the much-maligned Gungan character, infamously introduced in the 1999 film The phantom menace.

According to the official description, the premise for the special is “the Star Wars Galaxy is thrown into disarray when an ordinary Nerf Shepherd, Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo), unearths a powerful artifact from a hidden Jedi temple. He is drawn into adventure in a new, wonderfully wild and twisted version of the galaxy, where the good guys are bad, the bad guys are good, and everyone's fate depends on Sig becoming the hero who can put all the pieces back together. to make.”

That Jar Jar Binks might have secretly been a villain has been a fan theory for years in what seemed like an attempt to make the bumbling, saccharine character more interesting.

The special will feature original Jar Jar actor Ahmed Best voicing the character. Mark Hamill will also lend his voice to a LEGO Luke Skywalker.

Showrunners and executive producers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Chaos) said in a statement: “The opportunity to work with LEGO and Lucasfilm to rebuild the galaxy is a dream come true. We are collecting LEGO Star Wars has been going on for 25 years, and we approached this project with a fan's enthusiasm, literally building this story brick by brick.
