SNOOKER fans saw a heartwarming moment from Kyren Wilson's son after the World Cup final.

The warrior claimed his first world title at the Crucible on Monday with an 18-14 win over Jak Jones.

He was joined in the arena by his family as he collected the trophy.

Among those next to him was his young son, who fans saw shake hands with Jones in a touching moment.

One fan commented on social media: “Awesome @KyrenWilson. What a lovely family the Wilson's are, my heart melted when Kyren's son went up to shake hands with Jak Jones. Such a well-deserved victory.”

Another added: “Moment of the finale was definitely Kyren Wilson's son shaking hands with Jak Jones. Really moving.”

A third also commented: “I love that he's not Kyran Wilson's youngest son's favorite player!”

Meanwhile, another person said: “Great to see Kyrin Wilson's son shake hands with Jake Jones at the end without anyone telling him to, that little man raised it right!!!”

Wilson had a dominant start to the final on Sunday by winning the first seven frames.

Although Jones fought back after the opening session, the Englishman managed to win by four frames on Monday evening.

Wilson explained afterwards: 'My parents took out a new mortgage and sacrificed their entire lives to keep me here. My brother too. It's a huge team effort.

“I said I would never cry again, but I did. Jak was so tough. I don't know if there are any people left in Wales, how many people are cheering for him.

“My children said in a TV interview that their sports idol was Cristiano Ronaldo. Hopefully I have now overtaken him.”

Jones also congratulated him, with the Welshman saying: “Congratulations to Kyren and his family. They so deserve it.

“An incredible tournament for me. A month ago I was shaking in my first qualifying match. I'm happy with that.

“I thought I would do my best and see what happens, but Kyren is solid and has a good all-round game. It wasn't to be.”
