The Knight family will come together next week to remember Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell) in heartbreaking EastEnders scenes.
George's mother (Colin Salmon) died earlier this month after a serious heart attack outside a courtroom.
She had just learned that her husband Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) had been sent the racially motivated murder of George's biological father Henry.
It had emerged that after adopting him as part of a baby farming deal, his biological parents arrived to pick him up, but Gloria had insisted that her husband do whatever it took to keep him.
On her deathbed she made peace with George, and asked him to make sure she was cremated and not buried next to the evil Eddie.
However, in the coming scenes, Gina (Francesca Henry) and Anna (Molly Rainford) break the news that her funeral has already taken place without his knowledge and has not respected her last request.
The two decide to hold a memorial service at The Vic in memory of their grandmother and Anna leaves a message for their estranged half-brother Junior to join them.
Their father struggles with his emotions and contacts Rufus (Ian Gain) to make an arrangement another illegal fight in the underground boxing club.
On the day of the memorial, Junior doesn't show up and is severely beaten from the night before. George becomes dizzy and almost collapses.
