What’s with EastEnders characters returning from the dead? (Photo: BBC)

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) followed in Kathy Beale’s (Gillian Taylforth) footsteps in recent EastEnders episodes… by returning from the dead.

Let us explain, in case you missed it this week.

After making an enemy in prison, it looked like Phil’s life was about to end.

With his friends and family assuming he had been murdered, no one had any idea Phil made the deal with DI Keeble to become a police informant, so that’s why he was released.

When Sam (Kim Medcalf), Sharon (Letitia Dean), and Kat (Jessie Wallace) arrived at the club, they were all stunned to see Phil sitting at the bar.

So with Phil back in Walford, he’s got a lot to clean up.

We’re not talking about spring cleaning, more metaphorically because Kat, Sharon and Sam left the Mitchell Empire in a mess.

While Phil makes a toast to Peggy, Sam fears her brother will realize she intends to destroy the entire company.

During a conversation with Phil, Kat admits she was about to take over the bar, but Phil doesn’t feel like it and declares that he’s back and in control.

Kat realizes that Phil must have made a deal to get out of jail, but Phil swears her to secrecy for her own safety.

He’s back and Phil is already causing a lot of drama, but will he discover the truth about Sam’s plan?
