It just happens,” the multi-word joked to Stephen Colbert, before adding, “We got this call: 'Taylor is putting out an album, The department of tortured poets. I tried to look calm. Josh, we've arrived at Taylor's camp. He says, “Hey, do you have sushi?” “Oh, let's get some sushi here right away.” We had the best sushi I've ever had in my life.”

After the release of the album, which has several records brokenthe two musicians praised each other. In a track-by-track experience for Amazon Music, Swift laid out the meaning of some songs Martyred poetsincluding “Fortnight,” which she said “exhibits many of the common themes on the album.”

'One of them is fatalism: longing, wasting away, lost dreams. I think it's a very fatalistic album, because it has a lot of dramatic lines about life and death. “I love you, it's ruining my life.” These are very hyperbolic, dramatic things to say, but it's that kind of album,” she said. “It's about a traumatic, artistic-tragic view of love and loss. “Fifteen Days,” I always imagined it taking place in this American city where the American dream that you thought would happen didn't happen. You didn't end up with the person you loved and now you have to live with that every day, wondering what it would have been like to let him or her out. And that's actually a pretty tragic concept, so I just wrote from that perspective.
