Feltham fire: huge column of smoke rises near Heathrow airport – 70 firefighters on the scene | UK | News

About 70 firefighters from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called up this afternoon to fight the devastating flames on Hereford Road in Feltham. A Sunday Times bestselling author took to Twitter with images of the fire as he landed at the UK’s largest airport around 5pm. Robert Harris said, “Today he comes in just before 5:00 pm to land at Heathrow. The scorched fields. The fire!” Firefighters say undergrowth, trees and decking at the back of properties on the road are on fire.

A person nearby filmed the thick black smoke from the ground.

She said on Twitter: “You are all so brave London Fire Brigade, thank you for all you do.”

Talking to other users, she described the flames rising quickly but claimed the crews had been working hard to “get it under control.”

The Metropolitan Police Department in Hounslow also confirmed that its officers were assisting on the scene.
