Gary Neville calls Tottenham ‘the opposite of Manchester United’

Manchester United are “the opposite” of Tottenham, says Gary Neville, as the club legend lists the many ways the Spurs are better positioned than the crisis club.

United hit another low on Saturday when they collapsed to a 4-0 defeat at Brentford, with all four goals coming in the first half.

The result put United at the bottom of the Premier League rankings, with new manager Erik ten Hag losing both of his first two games in charge.

During the game, old quotes from Neville surfaced in which he said Spurs boss Antonio Conte would not be a good fit for United.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, pundit Jamie Redknapp recalled those quotes and told Neville: “You didn’t want to touch him, but he would have come in and put those players in better shape than they are now.”

The talk continued with Spurs owner Daniel Levy amid Neville’s continued criticism of United’s ownership by the Glazers.

Speaking of Levy: “He’s built an incredible stadium where people want to come and play – the best in the world – he’s got the best training ground in the country, he’s hired a fantastic sports director who knows what he’s doing and he’s now a manager that fits what they want to do right now.

“Manchester United is the opposite of that.”

Tottenham face Chelsea on Sunday and are looking to return to the top of the Premier League, while United face Liverpool at the bottom of the table next.
