Glen Powell in talks to star in JJ Abrams' next film

Glen Powell remains one of Hollywood's most in-demand leading men today.

The actor is in early talks to star in director's next film JJ Abrams, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. No deal has been made yet and plot details are currently unknown, although the project will not involve time travel, which puts to rest recent rumors about Abrams' possible plans.

A representative from Abrams' production company, Bad robotdeclined to comment.

Earlier on Wednesday THR reported that Powell is set to star opposite Anthony Mackie and Laura Dern in writer-director John Lee Hancock's legal drama Monsanto. Rocket Science will launch international sales from the Cannes film market later this month, with CAA Media Finance handling domestic rights.

Powell has been especially in demand since starring opposite Sydney Sweeney in Sony's romantic comedy Everyone but you. Powell co-wrote and starred in Richard Linklater's Netflix comedy Touch manwhich begins streaming next month after premiering at the Venice Film Festival last year.

The actor also stars alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos in Lee Isaac Chung's action sequel Twisterswhich Universal releases in theaters on July 19. Powell will also shoot the revenge drama Huntington this spring in South Africa, and he is attached to Edgar Wright's new adaptation of The running man for Paramount.

Abrams, who is still working as a producer, has not directed a film since 2019 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. He has previously directed films like Mission: Impossible III, Super8And Star Trek and its sequel.

Powell is represented by CAA, The Initiative Group and Johnson Shapiro.
