Haney vs Kambosos Jr 2: Fight time UK, undercard, last chances, prediction and ring walks tonight

d

house Haney and George Kambosos Jr meet in the ring for the second time tonight.

The undisputed world lightweight champion Haney puts all his belts on the line against Australia’s Kambosos Jr at Melbourne‘s Rod Laver Arena.

The American made the long journey to Australia in June and returned with the WBA, IBF and WBO belts that came with his WBC title, having dominated Kambosos throughout the match, winning by a large margin on all three maps.

That was the first defeat in Kambosos’ career after catapulting himself to the top of the lightweight division with a win over Teofimo Lopez, but while there was no great desire to see the fight again, the Australian had a rematch clause which he has chosen to take up sports.

His comments after the second fight was confirmed suggest he has little interest in rebuilding his career if he suffers another defeat to Haney.

“I’m 29, this is do or die for me now,” Kambosos Jr. said. “You won’t see me – if I don’t win this fight – back in Australia fighting, you know, domestic guys. I’m not that.”

As for Haney, the 23-year-old will be looking for a similar outcome to maintain his position as the only undisputed weight champion since the beginning of the four-tyre era.

Haney vs Kambosos Jr 2 Battle Prediction

Considering how comfortable a first-time win was for Haney, it’s hard to see how Kambosos can close the big gap just four months later.

The American is now 28-0, with seven of his last nine victories by unanimous decision. His fights aren’t necessarily full of thrills and excitement, but few look good technically and defensively.

A knockout never seemed particularly likely in the first fight, despite all of Haney’s control, and Kambosos isn’t the biggest of punches himself, so it would be a surprise if this fight didn’t go to the extreme again.

Kambosos is sure to produce an improved display backed by his home fans and his comments about possible retirement suggest he won’t leave anything in the tank.

Even with a different game plan than the Australian, it’s hard to imagine a different outcome, with Haney keeping all the lightweight belts and staging a slew of massive fights across the US over the next few years.

Haney wins by unanimous decision.
