FOR 10 years, Gogglebox has thrilled fans with some of TV’s most priceless moments.
We laughed – and sometimes cried – along the show series of stars who have welcomed us into their living rooms all these years.
Each household receives a supplement of £1,500 per monthbut some have been smart about making money behind the show.
Many of its stars have become celebrities in their own right and have had huge success with lucrative brand deals and projects.
Although they are normally bound by contracts that prohibit them from seeking endorsement deals without express permission from Channel 4 executives, several have found their way into it or dropped out to explore other ventures.
Here we look at the stars who have used their time Glasses case to secure even larger platforms.
Jungle Queen for television appearances
Arguably the most successful star in the show’s history, Scarlett has successfully built a career outside of show and is now highly sought after by brands and TV executives.
She appeared on the show from 2014 to 2016 and it was her second foray into reality TV after a brief stint on MTV‘s Beauty School Cop Outs.
Though her time on the show was short, she garnered enough popularity to be cast on the 16th series I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here in 2016.
After paying around £50,000 to appear as a contestant, Scarlett eventually won the series, cementing her position as a bona fide celebrity.
Since then she has been inundated with high profile performances and has presented on shows including Ant & Dec’s Saturday night takeawayI’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp, and has directed two documentaries.
With over 2.3 million followers on Instagram, it’s no surprise that she’s served as an ambassador for brands like Tampax and Hampton by Hilton.
Car giant deal
Hilarious friends Jenny and Lee have proven they’re not just on the Channel 4 show for a laugh by landing their own big money deals.
That was announced in 2021 Jenny67, and Lee53, had landed advertisement for car giant Citroën engines alongside their fellow stars Giles and Mary, Marcus and Mica, and Pete and Sophie.
For the commercial, the duo received £20,000, which was split equally to comment on the French automakers’ media campaign at the time.
The Best Friends, who live in Hull and have been friends since 1994, joined Gogglebox in 2014 and have delivered some of the funniest one-liners the show has ever seen.
A-list co-star for telephone company
In 2013, former partners Chris Ashby Steed and Stephen Webb were signed up to appear in the first series of Gogglebox – they were a huge hit with viewers.
Their massive popularity quickly paid off and landed them a spot in one EE ad next to Hollywood superstar Kevin Bacon.
In the commercial, they are seen using the company’s TV Box, which had just launched.
In a statement, EE said: “This is an important launch for EE and the chance to place Hollywood star Kevin Bacon alongside down-to-earth TV aficionados Christopher and Stephen at their now-famous Brighton home was a good idea to showcase the benefits of this fantastic new product.”
However, Chris and Stephen’s union didn’t last long as they split up with the former leaving the show in 2018.
Christmas with The Sandifords ad
Brothers or sisters Pete And Sophie Sandiford are an epic brother and sister duo and quickly became fan favorites after being part of series 10 of the show in 2017.
The pair of Blackpoolwhich are too related to the Chuckle Brothers turned out to be as businesslike as it was hilarious when they got their own lucrative deals.
After receiving £10,000 each for their involvement in the Lemon advertisements, they were also scooped up for starring in gossipChristmas promotion 2017.
It was a fly on the wall, an unscripted production intended to show how normal families around the country celebrate Christmas.
Lingerie photo shoots in plus sizes
She may have ruffled a few feathers this year when she claimed she got paid more than her former Gogglebox stars as she “made the show” — but there’s no denying that Sandra61, was TV gold.
As part of the OG lineup of stars, she appeared alongside her friend Sandi Bogle and captured the hearts of the nation.
Before she quit the show in 2017, she scored a deal with plus-size lingerie brand Viva Voluptuous and flaunted her curves in their Santa corset.
After leaving, she told The Daily Mail that she expected to “make a lot of money” as she landed a contract on a TV show she couldn’t talk about.
In 2021, she landed a judging role in the Amazon show Now that’s entertainmenttouted as the platform’s answer to Britain’s Got Talent.
However, she revealed earlier this year that she was back on benefits and regrets leaving the popular show.
Chair tester and dance competitions
Known for their funny jokes and adorable rottweilers, the Graces have established themselves as one of the most beloved families on Gogglebox.
But in 2021, son Tom Jr, 29, shocked fans when he revealed that he will not return to the show just a day before the new series was due to begin.
In a post, he said he was back in the market and asked producers to approach him with TV offers – he got his wish when he landed a spot on The real dirty dancing in 2022.
However, his first brand deal came shortly after his departure from the show in a partnership with workwear company BiGDUG as the company’s first head of seat testing.
The role involved him testing a number of seating options and rating them for their comfort on social media.
Celebrity Big Brother Finalist
In September, George made his debut on the show along with his mother Linda, and father Peterwho has since passed away.
However, the family was pulled from the show the following year when the 39-year-old decided to appear on Channel 5’s. Famous Big Brother.
Reportedly paying tens of thousands for the performance, he reached the finals of the show and managed to finish fourth.
In February 2016, George and his family returned to the show. After he left for a second time, they stayed until 2020, before Peter died the following year after a short illness.
TikTok shines with a BBC performance
In May last year, the Bagg’s familyconsisting of father Terry, mother, Lisa and sons Joe and George, shocked fans when she leave the show.
The family who joined in 2020 revealed they had decided to move out because they were “so busy with other work commitments”.
A few months later, the BBC announced that brothers Joe, 25, and George, 20, would be part of their very first Radio 1 TikTok takeover on Christmas Day.
The pair, who have more than 2 million TikTok followers between them, were given the slot to “give fans a chance to hear their favorite TikTok stars in a completely different light,” said the broadcaster.
