I won’t stop showboating at Manchester United

Antony has vowed to continue showboating for Manchester United despite being labeled a ‘clown’ by Paul Scholes and warned by the manager of this weekend’s opponents.

The Brazilian winger, 22, divided opinion as he executed his signature move – the Antony spin – twice in one go Thursday’s 3-0 Europa League win above Sheriff Tiraspol.

Signing £82m in September van Ajax then proceeded to kick the ball out of play rather than to a teammate after his 720 degree round trip, provoking a disapproving shake of the head from United manager Erik Ten Hag.

Ten Hag promised to talk to his player about future repeats, but Antony has already made it clear on social media that he intends to do so.

“We are known for our art and I won’t stop doing what got me where I am today!” he wrote in Portuguese on his Instagram page.

That probably didn’t sit well with Scholes, an 11-time Premier League winner with United under Sir Alex Ferguson.

“I like seeing skill and entertainment, I just don’t think it’s skill or entertainment — it’s just being a clown,” Scholes had said in his role as a TV pundit. “He needs that knockout of his.”
