iPhone 17 Slim has a smaller screen than the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 16 Plus

A few hours ago, a rumor told about the successor to Apple's iPhone 16 Plus would be called iPhone 17 Slim instead of. Given the new name, we assumed this would be the thinnest member of the iPhone 17 family, although that in itself doesn't really feel like it warrants such a big change.

However, if you combine this with the fact that the screen will be smaller than either currently available iPhone 15 Plus as well as the upcoming iPhone 16 Plus, then it might make more sense. Now a usually reliable source, Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, has put an accurate number on the diagonal.

According to him, the display of the iPhone 17 Slim will measure exactly 6.55 inches diagonally. So Young added more precision to analyst Jeff Pu's previous report, who simply labeled it “6.6 inches.”

The iPhone 15 Plus now has a 6.7-inch screen and its direct successor should retain that. On the other hand, the Pro Max grows to 6.9″, so we can't help but assume that Apple would want those who want the iPhone with the largest screen to have to spend money on the Pro Max instead of the much cheaper Plus to choose from. And soon you will no longer have a choice as rumors spread that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will grow to 6.9 inches and that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will remain at that size, while the iPhone 17 Slim will become smaller.

Of course, keep in mind that no matter how reliable a source typically is, we're currently about 18 months away from the launch of the iPhone 17 family, which means a lot – almost everything, in fact – could change. now until then, even if this is right.
