Lily James Says Pamela Anderson’s Portrayal Was a ‘Ruined Process’

Lily James explained the physical impact playing Pamela Anderson had on her while filming Pam & Tommy.

The much-discussed series, which premiered on Disney Plus in February of this year, investigating the theft and distribution of the Baywatch icon and the sex tape of ex-husband Tommy Lee they made during their honeymoon, which was stolen from their home.

It was then put online before the pair sued the tape’s distributor, Internet Entertainment Group.

Pamela, 53, and Tommy, 58 – who divorced in 1998 and share two children – were not involved in the project.

Some viewers have argued that the drama unnecessarily drew attention to the tape, while others praised it for the couple’s portrayal after the director, Craig Gillespie, insisted that the series portray the story in the most “empathetic” way. .

Lily’s performance was well received by fans and critics alike, but the Cinderella actress explained that the process was not smooth sailing.

“It was such a messed up process,” she said.

‘You just have to be patient with yourself. The hours are so long and you feel really burned out.’

“Your nervous system is like, shot. I felt like a real wreck at the end,” she added the mirror.

Lily even admitted that she wore the blonde wig during filming and that she had a hard time getting her English accent back on, to the point where she “lost a lot of jobs.”

Lily, 32, previously revealed that she had “never worked as hard” for a role as she did to transform herself into a pop culture icon.

‘I’ve read all the books’ [Anderson] has written, I read her poetry, I can participate in all her interviews,” she told Net-A-Porter’s digital title porter magazine.

‘And then of course there was the physical transformation. Slowly, our incredible team found a balance where I looked like Pamela, but also felt like I could get through it.”

Method acting is a practice introduced by Russian actor and director Konstantin Stanislavski in the early 1900s in which an artist tries to put themselves completely in their character’s shoes and emotional experiences in order to find their true feelings and motivations.

Acting coaches Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner also contributed to the approach’s growth and success, teaching Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando, Steve McQueen and Jeff Goldblum, among others.
