Lumen rolls out 400G wavelength network in US

Lumen Technologies is a global technology company that provides a broad range of communications and technology services. Following the company’s expansion of its intercity dark fiber network in the US, Lumen confirms the expansion of its 400 Gbps wavelength network in 70 markets. Wavelength services, in particular, enhance the value of Lumen’s Network and provide enterprises with the required dedicated, secure connectivity.

Miriana MartinovaSenior Vice President of Enterprise Core Network Solutions at Lumen, said: “The Lumen network is our crown jewel and our network infrastructure solutions are at the heart of what we do. We invest to win.”

“We are seeing strong demand from enterprises, government agencies, hyperscalers and wholesale customers for high-bandwidth connections between their data centers and public cloud. By combining our enhanced intercity fiber network with our next-generation wavelength network, these companies can quickly and securely deliver a digital journey that can take them far into the future,” Martinova added.

240 data centers enabled for 400G

With this implementation, 240 data centers are now available for 400 G Lumen Wavelength Services and 800 TB of capacity is running across the network. The company fulfills customer orders of more than 50 TB of 400 G wavelengths.

Topology viewer tool

In addition, Lumen provides organizations with a self-service tool, Topology Viewer, that allows them to quote, design, and build their wavelengths across Lumen’s North American network.

Wavelengths are safer network solutions

By providing the necessary resiliency, scalability and ultra-low latency, Lumen Wavelength Services helps customers upgrade their core digital networks. In addition, wavelengths are more secure network solutions because they are private and dedicated connections. Optical encryption also protects data while it is being transmitted.
