Meghan Markle Left Firm Because ‘Duty’ Came For Son, Says Royal Expert Royal | News

Meghan Marklea revealed her latest project earlier this week in the form of her new podcast series, Archetypes, which premiered Tuesday. During the first episode’s conversation with tennis star Serena Williams, Meghan told about a harrowing incident in which a fire broke out in her young son Archie’s room during a visit to South Africa. It has been suggested that the incident was one of the main triggers that prompted the Duke and Duchess to step back Royal Duties in 2020, eventually moving to America where they have now settled with their two children. Hosts of the podcast Royally Us have indicated that Meghan believed the fire emphasized the demands of royal life, forcing her to forgo her family duties, ultimately prompting her and Prince Harry to distance themselves from the company.

On Wednesday’s Royally Us podcast, royal expert Christine Ross discussed the impact of the fire: “I find it so interesting.

“So many of us moms, especially new moms, there’s always that one big thing that really shakes you up and really affects you more deeply than at any other time in your life.

“She was quite early in her postpartum experience. Archie wasn’t very old. I’m sure it was really scary.”

The incident took place while the couple was on a royal tour of South Africa with their son, then just a few months old.
