marks one year since its lush with a special Royal Gun Salute being held in central London today to mark the occasion.

The Royal Parks shared the news on their social media this morning, when they announced that the salute would be fired at around midday in Green Park, near Buckingham Palace.

They wrote on

“A royal gun salute will be fired @KingsTroopRHA (King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery Battery) at The Green Park today at 12 noon, Monday 6 May 2024.

The day of the coronation itself featured even more military prestige, including a procession from Westminster Abbey to the palace, an RAF fly-past and a royal salute by 4,000 troops in the palace gardens.

The Royal Parks added that to keep the public safe, “several footpaths and the Constitution Hill cycle path will remain closed for a period of time. A pedestrian route will be maintained along Con Hill.

“Advice: Those walking dogs are advised to avoid the area while greeting.”

Conservative MP Penny Mordaunt, who served as sword bearer during the ceremony, paid tribute to the king and queen on the anniversary of their coronation.

She wrote for Express.co.uk: “There was nothing about the coronation that was banal or old-fashioned. Few looked at the centuries-old spectacle and questioned its relevance. Many were proud.

“We all witnessed a service of duty and love. It was an antidote to a cynical world. It was a celebration of who we are and what unites us. The ones who protect us. Those who serve us.

“The congregation was a testament to all the greatness our nation has created: its charities, its creativity, its communities, its industries, those who take action and take responsibility.”
