'Nobody knows about it' – drivers urged to buy 'dirt cheap' Toyota, the 'best used car' on the market

A mechanic has urged motorists to buy a 'dirt cheap' Toyota, which he claims is the 'best used car' on the market.

The model was discontinued a few years ago, but is still a fixture on British roads.

Scotty Kilmer, who worked on it engines For 50 years, took over his YouTube channel to share the underrated car with its viewers.

He highly recommended getting one Toyota Prius V hybrid while it is still possible.

The model, known in Britain as the Prius+, runs on a “sophisticated” petrol hybrid system.

Scotty said, “They've only been making these things for a few years.

“They last a long time… the hybrid system continues to evolve and get better.

“Toyota has pretty much perfected it.

“It's extremely efficient… they can last almost indefinitely.”

Try that with the range of an electric car, you would never come close to what this thing could do.

The car uses an unusual “planetary” transmission where gears rotate around a central drive shaft, making it essentially an automatic.

At low speed it is 60kW electrical motor you sail around in serene silence.

However, if you step on it, the 98bhp inline-four engine will take over and reach speeds of over 100mph.

The hybrid Prius range also had quite an advanced regenerative braking system, so you can keep the battery ticking as you lift off the pedal.

Scotty added: “Toyota has sold millions of these things worldwide.

“They know what they're doing…they keep improving it over time.

“The new ones can easily get 55 mpg.

'Try that with one electric car range, you would never come close to what this thing could do.

Amazingly, they are available online at absolute bargain prices, with some as low as £3,995.

And a 2012 model with just 65,000 miles on the odometer will cost you just £8,000.

Even the most expensive examples only cost around £25,000 and are practically new.

It comes after another expert revealed it six performance cars which you can buy for less than €3,000.
