Paul Merson believes Marcus Rashford has outplayed himself from a move Manchester United this summer.

The England forward has been repeatedly linked with an exit to Old Trafford in the middle reports that United are prepared to sell almost their entire first-team squad.

Paris Saint-Germain have been interested in Rashford for years, but Merson says clubs will be reluctant to spend 'foolish money' on the 26-year-old given his inconsistent performances for Manchester United.

Rashford has scored just seven goals in 31 Premier League appearances this season, with his disappointing form potentially costing him a place in the England squad for Euro 2024.

“There have been reports that Marcus Rashford could be sacked this summer,” former Arsenal and England star Merson said Sportkeeda.

'I like him, but he blows hot and cold far too often for teams to pay ridiculous money for him, so I don't see him getting a move this summer.'

Rashford is not the only Manchester United player to struggle this season in a side that sits only seventh in the Premier League with four games remaining.

Erik ten Hag's side are back in action against Crystal Palace on Monday evening and Merson has predicted even more disappointment for United fans.

“If Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise are fully fit, Crystal Palace will beat Manchester United and anyone who has watched the Red Devils in recent weeks will agree with me,” he added.

'Manchester United is a huge football club, but not a huge football team anymore. Their team is nowhere near qualifying as good enough given the size of the club.

'I would be even more shocked if Manchester United won this match, that's what matters at the moment! I go 2-1 to Palace.'

Meanwhile, Ally McCoist believes Rashford should push for a departure from his boyhood club this summer and says it would be in the best interests of all parties if he left United.

“When I look at Marcus Rashford, I honestly believe it is in the best interests of all parties for him to seek a new challenge elsewhere,” he said. talkSPORT.

'I think he needs it and I think the Manchester United fans are starting to lose patience with him and a few others in the squad. I look at his body language and he just doesn't look happy.”
