But Wright54, thinks the 17-year-old has the ability to hunt Phil Taylor's status as the greatest the sport has ever seen.

He said, 'Only if he wants to do it, if he's not too bored. He could do that. We don't know what his plan is.

“He can just play another five years and think I've earned enough and go do something else and still be young enough to do that.”

Wright also admits he gave Littler advice when he was struggling in the Premier League, but he hasn't stopped winning!

The two-time world champion revealed he had sidelined the Warrington prodigy during the opening weeks of the tournament.

He revealed: “In the first or second week Luke was practicing. I threw on the same board.

“I told him, 'If you are having a hard time later, you can always come to me and if you start to lose, you can come to me for advice.'

“I said, 'You're going to lose.' But he hasn't done that yet!”

Wright also said it is up to the other players to improve their play and try to stop the youngster.

He said: “He is already on his way to number 25 in the world and he is great for the sport.

“All the other guys and myself, we practice in the back room. He just sits there on his phone. He practices for about five minutes, does his walk-on and hits everyone!

“Luke has shaken things up. He has played in three European matches and won two of them quite comfortably.

“Maybe we're doing it wrong. We're practicing too hard and exhausting ourselves and he's nice and fresh!

“But he's very talented. Luke Humphries put in the hard work and he has won almost all the majors. But Luke Littler is a different animal.

“That's what we needed. Michael van Gerwen came on the scene just after Phil Taylor and he raised the bar.

“Luke Littler is doing the same thing now. It's up to everyone else to put their fingers up and practice harder and hopefully stop him.”
