Telegraph Sports understands that a prominent Premier League soccer player arrested on suspicion of rape was further quized last year on suspicion of a separate attack on another woman.
Players who could not be named for legal reasons were quized on suspicion of three attacks, detained for about 30 hours, and released on bail until August.
Telegraph Sport revealed on Monday how the player was arrested early in the morning on rape allegedly happening last month.
In an updated statement, Scotland Yard said: “On July 4, a woman in her twenties was reportedly raped by police. The rape allegations were reported to have occurred in June 2022. The man was arrested at Burnett’s address on suspicion of rape. Was detained.
“During detention, he was further arrested on charges of two rape cases allegedly committed against another woman in her twenties in April and June 2021, after which he was arrested until the date of August. He was released on custody. The situation investigation is ongoing. “
The club has been contacted by Telegraph Sport and is aware that the player is being asked. Police said the man was initially arrested “at Barnett’s address.”
The player is internationally renowned and it is unclear if he will play on the club’s pre-season match schedule.
The Premier League season begins on August 5, and players will also be competing in the World Cup in Qatar this November.
