The 32-year-old singer-songwriter and panelist for The Masked Singer said she had a “beautiful and perfect” wedding, as she released her new single You Only Love Me on Friday about her romantic journey with the Oscar-winning Waititi.

The following year, after several red carpet appearances together, they co-hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in November.

She said her new song was inspired by the beginning of her relationship with Waititi, 47, who recently starred in the pirate romantic comedy series Our Flag Means Death.

Waititi is known as the writer, producer and director of Jojo Rabbit, which he also starred in and for which he won the Writing (Adapted Screenplay) award at the 92nd Academy Awards in 2020, as well as writing and directing the Marvel movie from 2022. Thor: love and thunder.

Ora said that the music video for You Only Love Me, which features Ora as a bride, is about a wedding that “didn’t go according to plan” and is different from her own story.

She added: “I wanted to play with the fact that I chose to keep (my wedding) a little more private… and just a little bit more to myself, but I wanted to play on what could have been, so this is what I give to the public about what could have been.”

It (her marriage) was exactly, just the way I wanted it. It was just fun and perfect

Directed by Charlie Sarsfield, the video features The Stepford Wives meets Alice In Wonderland narration, and also features cameos from Kristen Stewart, Lindsay Lohan, Chelsea Handler, and her fairy godmother, played by Sharon Stone.

Speaking of her own marriage, Ora said: “It was exactly, exactly how I wanted it. It was just fun and perfect. Just the way I wanted it, just for myself… It was really sweet.”

Ora said she has not yet decided whether to change her surname to Waititi.

She added, “I definitely thought about it, but I worked really hard for this Ora name, I must say.”

Ora will debut a performance of her new song on February 1 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and is planning an upcoming album.

She is also an actress and will star opposite Jamie Foxx and Robert De Niro in the upcoming movie Tin Soldier.
