Robo: No decision until ABs are back

New Zealand rugby boss Mark Robinson has revealed that no decisions will be made about the future of All Blacks head coach Ian Foster until the team is back in New Zealand.Foster’s job is in jeopardy after losing three of five tests against Ireland and the Springboks to start the 2022 season, but a 35-23 win over the Springboks this morning at Ellis Park would have strengthened his case for retention.

Robinson, however, declined to speculate on what could happen, only confirming that talks will take place when the team returns home, before an insight is given to the New Zealand Rugby Board, which will make the decision as to who the All Blacks go to. next tests.

Robinson says a mid-term or late-stage update can be expected next week.

“We’ve been talking all along with [Foster]’ said Robinson. “We believe we know where we stand, we just have to work that through with him.

“There’s a lot of passion and speculation, we appreciate that, we need time to work that through.”

Robinson also praised the All Blacks for this morning’s performance.

“They’ve been through a lot. To win in the face of such adversity has been really enjoyable. Every aspect of that achievement is considered part of this week’s discussions.

“I’m very happy for Ian, very happy that he can reflect and enjoy such a result with his team around him.

“We have a really good dialogue, we work really hard together to make sure the team has everything it needs to be successful. We only want the best for them and that’s what we’re working towards now.”
