Ronnie O'Sullivan has praised the 'small improvements' made to the player experience on the World Snooker Championship this year, but would like to see even more changes to the Crucible.

The rocket fell to Stuart Bingham in the quarter-finals of this year's World Championship, ending his quest for an eighth world title for another season.

The 48 year old, who signed an ambassadorial agreement with Saudi Arabia, supported the World Cup to move abroad ahead of this year's tournament, when its contract with the Crucible expires in 2027.

A move remains a possibilitybut so are the facilities in Sheffield which are being improved to maintain the iconic tournament.

O'Sullivan says there have been minor changes this year to keep players happy, but says things can still improve when it comes to players feeling comfortable at the venue.

'I think it's a bit dated. It could perhaps be updated,” O'Sullivan said. “It could have some better facilities here so the players can relax and maybe eat some nice food on site so you don't have to keep bringing it in.

'I like that they have a courtesy car here this year, so you don't have to make your way through the hall every time you come here. You don't mind coming to the location now. It's the first time in years, so that's a real plus.

'I get scones delivered to my room before my match and you don't have to worry about that.

“They've started making these little improvements. But if you really make a wish list…I think the location could be friendlier to players. Relaxation rooms maybe, more exercise tables, maybe two more exercise tables. Showers maybe, a nice changing room with showers maybe.

'If you get a smart interior designer or an architect here, you can tear down all the walls and start over.

'Maybe make it bigger, better and more current. Who knows.'

Matchroom Sports chairman Barry Hearn warned about the future of the Crucible earlier in the tournament, saying that unless Sheffield City Council builds a new, much larger venue, the tournament will most likely disappear in 2028.

Although a brand new venue in Sheffield remains unlikely, the local authority hopes a compromise can be reached on improved facilities in and around the Crucible so that the tournament can remain in the city where it has been held since 1977.
