At the request of founders James and Hayley Baillie, the original architect of the Southern Ocean, Max Pritchard returned with his team to recreate 2.0. The original Lodge, the flagship of luxury collective Baillie Lodges, was devastatingly burned to the ground in bushfires in 2020, save for a kangaroo sculpture that stood in the lobby. More than a decade later, Pritchard has taken the opportunity to install cutting-edge technology, setting new environmental standards sustainability in the tourism sector, from rainwater collection to solar energy. 45,000 native plants of great biodiversity have been propagated and planted on site to provide a natural buffer against the surrounding wilderness. And of course there is a greatly improved infrastructure for fire prevention.
