Stuart Bingham was scathing about his own performance in the defeat to Jak Jones in the semi-finals of the World Snooker Championship, calling his performance 'embarrassing' in a 17-12 defeat.

Bingham came into the match full of confidence after beating Ronnie O'Sullivan in the quarter-finals and started the semi-final in style as he opened a 3-0 lead.

However, that really was as good as it got for the 2015 world champion, with only flashes of his brilliant best, with two tons and two half-centuries coming from him in the next 26 frames.

Jones himself admitted that he didn't feel like he was playing that wellbut Bingham felt his own performance was still a long way from where it should have been.

“Really shameful,” Bingham told the BBC. 'I gave away at least eight frames. He probably missed eight or nine blacks from the spot. You can't do that at this level. Very, very disappointed after playing like I did against Ronnie. I just didn't like it there.

'It was all hard work today. Too many mistakes, cost me a lot of time.

'He didn't really have to work hard to get in. You can see that he is a great cueist, very calm, a little nervous at the end, but there was nothing left in me.'

He added on Eurosport: 'He missed too many easy balls, gave him too many easy starters, just an embarrassing performance on my part. I can't put my finger on why, I was just devastated.

'Things like that have been happening in the last few years. Put in a good performance, beat Ronnie in the final round and play shocking snooker in the next round. Too bad to end like this.

“Many of the frames he won I was in, I had every chance in every frame. It's not like he blew me away. Disappointed that I didn't put up any fight in the end. Just gutted.”

Jones is in the final against Kyren Wilson after wins over Zhang Anda, Si Jiahui and Judd Trump before beating Bingham, but he's not quite sure how that continues to happen.”

“I don't think I'm playing well, I'm just winning,” he said. 'I don't do anything special, I guess. I don't score heavily, I don't do anything special.'
