A university student has shocked her social media followers after revealing the sorry state of her £700-a-month room in her rented home.

Ness, a final year student at Durham University, has now gone viral after posting a video of her filthy bedroom in the basement of the house.

Despite paying a huge amount every month, Ness filmed excessive mold on her windowsill and a small street-level window with iron bars, adding that temperatures were “baltic.”

She said the window is not waterproof, meaning water seeps in when it rains, adding to the general discomfort in the room.

Post on TikTok by the alias @precarious_boogerNess filmed a tour of her room and wrote: 'You live in a student house trying to make the most of the basement room that no one wanted and for which you pay over £700 a month.'

She added in the caption that she has also had to deal with spiders, humidity and 'baltic' temperatures and that she has iron bars on the window, which adds to the prison feeling.

After walking down two flights of stairs, Ness gave her followers a tour of the rooms in the clip, which now has more than two million views.

She had made the most of the dingy space by decorating it beautifully, but her followers were quick to point out that her small window could make it 'illegal' to live in.
