A student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, Ademola Alayori, has died after being allegedly shot and killed by agents of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun.

In a voice message, Ademola did before his death, he said the incident took place on Monday evening, July 4. According to him, he was at home and had just finished eating and was about to drink water when he saw his brother, who is an apprentice at a barb parlor returning home. He said the next thing he knew, some men burst into their apartment. Ademola said he asked what they were looking for, but they ignored him and told him and others in the apartment to move. It was in this process that he was allegedly shot.

Adenoma further stated that he was dragged by the officers to their office, where he was held in a cell with a dog licking the blood from his wound. He said he was taken to the Federal Medical Center in Owo after his condition deteriorated and surgery was performed on him afterwards. It was in the hospital that he later died.

In protest at his murder, the students carried his body this morning to the gate of the state house where they demand that the Amotekun agents who allegedly killed Ademola be arrested.

The state police command and the state government have not yet commented on the incident.
