The Bill star Jeff Stewart looked worlds away from his soap alter ego PC Reg Hollis.
The actor, who played on the PC in the long-term ITV series drama, looked unrecognizable from his clean-shaven character in uniform as he stepped out of Hampstead.
Jeff, 68, was seen sporting a long gray beard with glasses, a yellow T-shirt and orange shorts.
The actor, who appeared in Crossroads and Doctor who Prior to his work on The Bill, he played the popular PC Reg for 24 years, appearing in a total of 872 episodes in that time.
Reg also appeared in a number of spin-off TV films, including The Bill Uncovered: Des and Reg, a documentary series featuring the character and his colleague Des Taviner, played by Paul User, best known as Brookside's Barry Grant.
Reg was written out of The Bill in 2008, just two years earlier its controversial abolition. The news came as a shock to actor Jeff, who subsequently attempted suicide.
After the incident, Jeff said in a statement: “I love being an actor. My work as an actor is very important to me – it is my life – and the thought of this suddenly changing had a very serious impact on me.”
Reg's final scenes saw him quit his job after being emotionally traumatized following the deaths of several of his friends, who were killed in an explosion.
The Bill, meanwhile, underwent a series of changes the following year, including the removal of its iconic theme tune and a new 9:00 PM slot after the watershed, but despite the renewal it was ultimately canceled and the final episode aired in 2010.
