Gavin Jennings will take over from Bryan Dobson at News at One as RTE looks for a permanent replacement for their most famous news anchor.

Mr Jennings joined Radio One eight years ago and previously worked on News at One, This Week, Saturday Sport, Friday Sportsnight and Take Your Point before joining Morning Ireland in 2013.

Before becoming a broadcaster, Mr. Jennings worked as an emergency room physician.

Originally from Navan, he is married to Audrey Carville who joined Radio One in 2012 and worked on Drivetime, The Late Debate and Today before landing her current role on Morning Ireland.

The couple live in Dublin and have a teenage daughter named Lucy.

Mr Dobson, who during his time at the broadcaster presented all of RTÉ's flagship news programs on television and radio and anchored television coverage of elections and special state events, retired on Friday after 37 years at RTE.
