Thomas Tuchel is said to be open to a replacement Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manage this summeraccording to reports Germany.

The 50-year-old is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, although the German club has encountered several problems in finding a replacement.

Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick have all rejected Bayern's approach so far and the German club are now adding more names to their shortlist, including Ten Hag.

The position of the Dutchman at Old Trafford was threatened again on Monday evening after United's 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park – a result that leaves the team eighth in the Premier League and at risk of missing out on European football next season.

According to Heaven GermanyThere has been informal contact between Tuchel and United's hierarchy and it is understood the former Chelsea manager is attracted to the prospect of becoming the next manager at Old Trafford, although his immediate focus is on reaching the Champions League final with Bayern.

The report adds that Tuchel is also open to a return to Chelsea, although there is no indication that Mauricio Pochettino's position is under immediate threat.

Pochettino admits he is unsure about his future at Chelsea and the club's hierarchy will not make a decision on his position until a full review of the season is conducted once the season is over.

Tuchel said Hoeness' assessment of his management “insults my honor as a coach”.

Bayern made it clear this weekend that they expect Tuchel to leave at the end of the season.

“The agreement is there,” Bayern president Herbert Hainer said on Saturday.

'I am convinced that we will present a good coach.'

Asked if he could stay at Bayern, Tuchel said: 'I'm totally the wrong person to contact.

“There is nothing else to say from my side at this point. At the end of February, the club took the initiative and we reached an agreement.

'Since then, the club has conducted intensive searches. I think that's a bad motivation to say again, “oh, now we can talk to you again.” From my side that is clear at the moment.'
