“But very happy with what he saw from his players and that aggression is what we see here in the early stages.”

Reflecting on the intensity of the game afterwards, Declan Rice said: “I think you saw in the first half it was domination. We could have been up by four or five if I'm honest with you. I missed a sitter and I was stupid to be honest.”

Arsenal are one point ahead of City with two games to play.

But City still have a game in hand, which comes against Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham next Thursday.
